Puerto Vallarta Getaway

October 8, 2015

Being that Cabo San Lucas was one of our first destinations that we visited together, I surprised my boyfriend with an anniversary beach getaway to Puerto Vallarta - back to Mexico where it all began!

I found a great deal with the Marriot CasaMagna Resort & Spa and it was incredible. From the ocean-view suite, infinity pool and friendly staff (we even received complimentary champagne and chocolate covered strawberries for our anniversary!) to the fully-equipped gym and spa, we were both pleasantly surprised and extremely happy with our stay. It's also in a great location with a 20 minute taxi ride to downtown, which is perfect if you're looking to go out at night.

Born and raised from Southern California, you don't really know what humidity is, so as you can imagine, we got a reality check. On our first night, we decided to do a dinner and a show with Rhythms of the Night. Aside from the heat, dripping with sweat, and being eaten alive by mosquitoes, the performances were unbelievable with unlimited alcohol and a yummy buffet following the show. By far one of our favorite excursions and a must-do while in Puerto Vallarta.

We had our anniversary dinner at Vista Grill, one the cutest restaurants on top of a hill, and managed to capture a beautiful photo with the sunset over the ocean. Dinner was delicious and I absolutely suggest going there for a gorgeous view of the city. I only wish we had this in Los Angeles!

Although it was a short trip, we relaxed by the pool, drank, ate, explored the city, rented jet skis, and fell in love with Puerto Vallarta. What's up next for our Mexico adventure...Tulum has been on my travel wishlist and I'm hoping to make a trip next year! Has anyone been yet?
